The Maryland Institute for Innovative Computing works to fully support state agencies in expanding their technical talent pipeline through intern recruitment, compensation, mentoring and conversion.
Eligible employers are limited to a maximum of 6 awarded internships in a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). An employer may apply for no more than two funding awards for the same intern and interns must be current college students.
We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.
Four Steps to Funding — At a Glance
- Submit your MIIC Application and Internship Position for review and approval. One application represents one reimbursement. If you plan to have 4 interns, you will need to submit this form 4 times. Receive notice of Pre-Approval or Denial from MIIC within 15 business days.
- Interns will be paid $17 an hour and agencies will request reimbursement during the given semester. The intern must work a minimum of 120 hours to seek reimbursement.
- Recruit and Confirm your Intern Hire. The selected candidate must complete the Intern Hire Verification Form no later than four weeks post internship start. Please be sure to review intern eligibility details to ensure your intern hire meets the qualifications of the program. Funding is only reserved for an employer once an application is approved and an intern hire is reported. If MIIC funding availability changes for any reason, employers will be notified immediately.
- At the conclusion of the internship, the following documents must be completed for funding to be disbursed:
- Intern Evaluation Form, which will be sent by the MIIC administrator and completed by the intern.
- Intern Performance Evaluation, which will be sent by the MIIC administrator and completed by the employer.
- Reimbursement Request Form, which will be sent by the MIIC administrator and completed by the employer.
