CEO/Founder: Therese Canares
1) How has MTIP impacted your company or ability to hire interns?
MTIP has been a game changer for us! We’ve hired several interns with MTIP’s help that we otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. It’s led to recruitment of top talent which has helped our company, and in addition, we’ve helped many of our interns get into medical school!
2) What inspired the founder to start the company?
Working in the Johns Hopkins pediatric emergency room showed Dr. Canares just how dire the need is for immediate relief to know ‘why am I sick?’. Dr. Canares set out to solve that, so families don’t have to wait hours in the ER, by creating diagnostic tests from a smartphone image- like a Lab in your Pocket.
3) What problem is the company solving, or what service or feature is the company providing?
Telehealth lacks remote medical tests. Our app predicts disease (eg, strep throat) with a mobile pic + AI. With 5+ conditions in our pipeline, we’ve created a ‘Lab in your Pocket’, sold as B2B SaaS to telehealth practices. This innovation leverages advanced AI techniques for high accuracy; mobile devices which enables dissemination for better healthcare equity; and promotes evidence-based virtual healthcare.
4) Can you share a major milestone or success that has had a significant impact on your company’s growth?
Our app went live in the apple app store in February! This has enabled people who are feeling sick to be able to get immediate help, from home.
5) What is your company aiming to achieve in the next 5 to 10 years?
We’re building a world where you have instant disease prediction to your fingertips.
