1) Please tell us about your career goals.

My career goal is to become a software engineer who develops reliable, secure, and practical technology for healthcare, life sciences, robotics, and other real-world applications. I am particularly interested in application development, artificial intelligence, embedded systems, and cybersecurity. In the long term, I want to combine my technical knowledge with research and industry experience to build systems that improve efficiency, support better decision-making, and solve meaningful problems.

2) Tell us about your internship (i.e., day-to-day responsibilities, special projects/clients, and work culture).

As an Application Development Intern at Erewhon Life Sciences, I assist with designing, developing, testing, and improving software applications for healthcare and life-science projects. My day-to-day responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, testing application features, identifying and troubleshooting software defects, documenting technical work, and collaborating with the development team. I also participate in regular progress meetings with my supervisors to discuss completed tasks, technical challenges, and upcoming priorities. Because the internship is remote, clear communication, organization, and independent problem-solving are important. The work culture is collaborative, research-oriented, and supportive, while also encouraging interns to take responsibility for their assigned work.

 

3) Describe the process of obtaining your position. When did you hear of the position and submit your application?

I learned about the internship opportunity during the spring of 2026 through a faculty connection at Towson University. The opportunity aligned with my background in computer science, software development, and research. I shared my qualifications and discussed how my technical experience could support the organization’s application-development projects. After completing the selection process, I received an offer and began the internship on May 26, 2026.

5) What have you enjoyed the most about your position or organization?

What I have enjoyed most is the opportunity to apply what I have learned in computer science to real software-development projects. I enjoy working through technical problems, testing application features, and seeing how software is developed in a professional and research-focused environment. I also value the opportunity to work with experienced supervisors who provide feedback while allowing me to develop greater independence and confidence in my work.

6) How do you believe you have made an impact through your work?

I have contributed by supporting the development, testing, and improvement of software applications. My work has helped identify technical issues, improve code quality, and make application features more reliable and maintainable. I have also contributed through careful documentation, consistent communication, and active participation in progress discussions. By approaching each task methodically and completing assigned work responsibly, I have helped the team move projects forward while reducing the time required to identify and resolve software problems.

7) What advice would you give to another student who is seeking an internship or similar experience (i.e., Internship search, Resume, or Interview tips)?

I would advise students to begin their internship search early and not depend only on online job applications. Faculty members, university contacts, alumni, and professional connections can often provide access to opportunities that are not widely advertised.Students should tailor their resume to each position and clearly show relevant projects, technical skills, and measurable accomplishments. During an interview, they should be prepared to explain what they personally contributed to a project rather than only describing the overall project. They should also be honest about what they do not know and demonstrate that they are willing and able to learn. Following up professionally and maintaining relationships with faculty and employers can also create future opportunities.
