1) Please tell us about your career goals.
My short-term career goal is to build a strong foundation in my field by gaining hands-on experience, improving my technical and problem-solving skills, and contributing meaningfully to a team. Given my background in Information Systems, I’m particularly interested in roles where I can work with data, systems, and business processes to drive better decision-making. In the long term, I aim to grow into a role where I can take on more responsibility, such as leading projects or teams, and helping organizations use technology strategically. I’m especially interested in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, and eventually contributing to high-level decision-making.
2) Tell us about your internship (i.e., day-to-day responsibilities, special projects/clients, and work culture).
As a Business Analyst Intern at ASHA IT Solutions, I acted as the primary Point of Contact between executive leadership and student teams, streamlining daily communication, tracking progress, and identifying operational gaps early on. Beyond coordination, I collaborated across teams to analyze internal IT systems and workflows, ultimately helping define requirements for a more efficient, cloud-based recruitment platform that explored AI-driven candidate tracking. Operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with direct stakeholder interaction allowed me to strengthen my communication and proactive problem-solving skills. Ultimately, this hands-on experience sharpened my analytical abilities and effectively bridged the gap between complex business needs and technical solutions.
3) Describe the process of obtaining your position. When did you hear of the position and submit your application?
I first became familiar with ASHA IT Solutions while working on a related capstone project, where direct interactions with the President gave me valuable insight into the company’s goals. After the project, I reached out to her to express my interest in continuing to work together and inquired about student opportunities. Based on my demonstrated skills and prior involvement, the process was organic and relationship-driven, leading to an offer to join the team as a Business Analyst Intern.
4) Which of the following resources did you use to find your current experience?
MTIP Website, Handshake or other job boards, College Career Center.
5) What have you enjoyed the most about your position or organization?
What I’ve enjoyed the most about my position at ASHA IT Solutions is the opportunity to work closely with leadership and have a direct impact on how work gets coordinated and evaluated. Acting as a bridge between the President and the students gave me a unique level of responsibility, and I really valued the trust placed in me to manage that communication effectively.
6) How do you believe you have made an impact through your work?
I believe I made a meaningful impact by improving communication and visibility between leadership and the students. By acting as the primary point of contact, I helped ensure that updates were consistent, organized, and easy to track. This made it easier for the President to monitor progress, evaluate performance, and address any issues early on.
7) What advice would you give to another student who is seeking an internship or similar experience (i.e., Internship search, Resume, or Interview tips)?
One of the biggest pieces of advice I would give is to actively network and build relationships. In my case, my internship came through a connection I made during a capstone project, so putting yourself in environments where you can interact with professionals really makes a difference. don’t hesitate to ask for opportunities, even if they’re not formally posted. Reaching out, expressing interest, and showing initiative can open doors that you might not find otherwise.
