1) How has MTIP impacted your company or your ability to hire interns?

The Maryland Technology Internship Program (MTIP) has been a significant asset to Capstone Technology Partners by offsetting the cost of hiring highly qualified technical interns during the summer. This support enabled us to address a backlog of internal tasking, particularly in infrastructure and digital operations, that would have otherwise remained delayed due to resource constraints.

By accelerating progress on these foundational projects, MTIP funding directly contributed to strengthening our back-office systems—positioning both Capstone and our customers to be more agile, efficient, and competitive in an evolving technology landscape. The program not only supports workforce development but also empowers small firms like ours to stay on par with larger, better-resourced competitors through strategic use of emerging talent.

2) What inspired the founder to start the company?

Many have asked how someone with a background in psychology found their way into the tech industry. My answer is simple: no matter the field, people are a company’s greatest asset. At Capstone, we’ve built a culture that invests in our employees and encourages a sense of belonging for all.

I’m especially passionate about creating access to STEM careers for those who have historically been underrepresented in the field. We believe that when more people have the opportunity to contribute, innovation thrives. At Capstone, we’re not just building technology, we’re unlocking untapped talent that strengthens our teams and drives more innovative, future-ready solutions.

3) What problem is the company solving, or what service or feature is the company providing?

Advances in technology simultaneously drive the need for innovation and security. The company provides engineering services, cybersecurity, and project management consulting services that help undergird the professional and technical infrastructure of federal, state, and local agencies.

4) Can you share a major milestone or success that has had a significant impact on your company’s growth?

Capstone Technology Partners was awarded a prime contract on the SeaPort Next Generation (SeaPort-NxG) multiple-award contract vehicle, a significant milestone that positions us to expand our support of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.

5) What is your company aiming to achieve in the next 5 to 10 years?

At Capstone Technology Partners, our vision for the next decade is rooted in sustainable growth, talent empowerment, and industry impact. As we scale, we remain committed to building a company where innovation thrives and people come first. Over the next 5 to 10 years, we are focused on the following strategic goals:

1. Be Recognized as a Top Workplace in Tech

2. Expand Internal Leadership Pathways

3. Diversify Our Portfolio Across Sectors

4. Win and Sustain Multiple Prime Contracts

5. Launch an Internal Innovation Lab for employees and partnerships with local high schools and universities.

6) What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a company in your industry?

Find mentors who will challenge and support you. If you don’t see many people who look like you in the room, don’t let that be discouraging, let it be a reason to stay and shift the culture.
